Photography Question

Hi

This shot of Dave the piper at sunset has flare (as you can see ) on his shorts. Can anyone suggest how I might get rid of it.

The other option is to pretend it was intentional but I think it's distracting so I'd like to fix it.

It might have been more dramatic by the way if Dave had been in his kilt, but the art of geting Dave in front of a camera was almost too much of a stretch. I settled for what I could get and bribed him with Scotch.

Comments/suggestions? Especially to do with the flare.

Many thanks!
Kit

Sorry Kitty but on my monitor I can't see any lens flare...just a really dark partial silhouette against a nice sunset.

If the flare isn't real noticeable, sometimes increasing your contrast a little will help to hide it. (But that will make the silhouette even darker.)

I like your idea about bribing with Scotch. (Though personally, I prefer a cold brew.) ;)

I like your camera choice as well.

Thanks Bob. Trust me, the flare is there. That makes it not a whole lot of use for a photo contest I would imagine which is why I wanted to clean it up.

The image you see is a scan of a print. The negative went away sometime last year in a move. I think I might be able to sell it if I can clean it.

I agree wholeheartedly with thr brew. A nice dark ale....mine's a guinness thanks if it's your go. ;)

  Good Morning Guys,
And I feel so good right now!!!
The kid (or should I say old broad)with the eye problems can see it !!
lol,lol
It is a very small dot on his croch- leg further away.
I would think the clone stamp would easily get rid of such a small dot.
well I hope this helps- I contribute my success to the extra coffee I have to drink to keep up with some of Kerry's funny posts early in the morning.lol.
have a great day,
Debby

Thanks you guys. Don't know why the flare isn't there (it is on the print) Anyway I guess that's good for me.

So the next question is--and I assume this has to do with why you can't see the flare--do you think the sillouette is too dark or is there no such thing?

Really appreciate your help
cheers
Kitty

...i see a big flare over the horizon, and it sure looks good to me, Kitty!!!

lol, seriously, I do see a small red spot, although not a flare, on his shorts on the left edge. It must be on the negative... if I were you I would clone it out in ps, a fairly simple process...

...i see no probelm with the silhouette. I do not think there is such a thing as too dark...

You guys are great! I have a program called Picture IT which is a cheap version of photoshop. I didn't have a clue what the clone function was. In a zoomed-in version, Dave's shorts are mottled rather than jet black so the painting functions wern't sucessful. Cloning is perfect. (But you all knew that before didn't you?)

Here's the edited version. Better now?
