Help! My First Digital SLR...

I just recently purchased a Canon Rebel XT and... Does anyone know how to shoot a panorama with this camera? Is it even possible. I enjoy landscape photography and it would be great to know how to shoot a panorama. Thanks so much...

There is no built-in feature for making a panorama like there is in some compact digital cameras. I don't know if any digital SLRs have this.

But it can be done. You can take several pictures, and then stitch them together on your computer. I'm not sure if the Rebel XT comes with a program to do this, but there are several available out there. I know one is called Photostitch.

This works best when using a tripod. Take a picture, pan over some, take another picture, etc. Make sure that you don't pan over too far in between pictures, you want to have some overlap to help align the images later.

Good luck.

About stiching photos, this is a great site to check out.

Also programs to stich, Elements and CS both have a sticher.

well, you could stich, problem is that the horizon gets bent(if you have clouds). The only way is to shoot a liitle more than you want, and in PS 9.0 you can tweek the picture so that it looks correct and crop a little.
Something fun, do a full circle and then stich

A program that works well for me to create panoramas is called autostitch. The only input that you have to put in is your pictures and it does the rest of the work. It's free and can be downloaded from this website.

Here are three different Pano's that I've made with this program.
