Uploading Problem I've noticed more than once when I upload a photograph here it ends up looking soft and I lose details. They look fine here at home. I'm uploading within the guidelines so I'm not sure what's going on. Any suggestions?

Thanks Jill, I'll check out your question too. It's really disappointing losing that clarity. I notice that others don't seem to have this problem, but they also seem to have a better camera. Wonder if that has anything to do with it at all?

I don't know what size you are uploading - but someone suggested making the short side 480 instead of 500 - this is supposed to help. Good luck!

Susan, firstly thanks for the comments etc you put in sometimes about my images, regarding the softness you mention, when you resize a jpg and save it like you have to in order to upload, you lose some of the information in the image therefore some of the detail and clarity, I always resize the jpg first then sharpen it a little at its reduced size then save it for upload, this helps to put back a little of the sharpness you lost, give it a try, tony

I actually do that Antony, but for whatever reason when I upload here, a bit of the sharpness goes away. I'm thinking it is because they are resizing the image too. When I tried what Diane was saying, to make the short side smaller it seemed to work. I'm not sure if I feel like going back and resizing everything (afterall it's not that bad) but in the future I will be sizing as Diane suggested :)
