Unfortunately, I think EVERYONE had received this notice at one time or another, Banurekha, it's a scam to get you to pay for having your photo published in their book, which you may or may not ever receive a copy of. See this thread (I think it's one of several on this scam):

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Enter your photos in BP contests and other legit ones on the web, instead!

I think we've ALL been in your position, well most of us, anyway. I'm sorry to have led to you a link that seems to have turned mean and nasty, too! I personally can't recommend any other contests that I've entered, because I haven't, but I know that most camera manufacturers (Nikon, Cannon, Olympus, etc) have contests on their sites for people who own their cameras. Kodak has one, too, where if you're seleted photo of the day, your photo is displayed in Time's Square for the day - someone on this site recently won that honor. I'd check through some of the threads, maybe do a search on BP for "contest" and see if anyone else has recommended any.

Hope I've helped you. Sorry to bring down your excitement, but glad you didn't jump into it and send them money. Never trust anyone that says you have to pay money to get your photo published - they should pay you! Stay away from photo.com, as well!

Good Luck!!

Laura, I think you are thinking of picture.com. photo.com is just a page asking for your user name and password.

Here are some photo contests that I know of, most are photos of the day.
photoshowdown.com, shutterbugs.biz, deviantART.com, fanartreview.com, bytephoto.com.
I hope this helps. Try to stay away from the websites that want you to pay for publication. I've made that mistake myself!!
