Birds

I have a problem taking photos of flying birds. Sometimes they turn out blue when I use the sport selection or when I use the manual selection the photos turn out blurred. I own a canon drebel as well as a canon A75. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Try your shutter priority setting and choose a fast shutter speed (1/1000). This will freeze the action. The type of lense you are using also could be the problem. A good telephoto lense (200-300mm) would work well.

  Maybe they're bluebirds....(just kidding.) :)
(Sorry,...couldn't help interjecting a little humor at your expense.)

To freeze action of most soaring birds, 1/125 sec. should be enough. For beating wings, 1/250 sec. or more would be required to freeze feather detail of birds flying toward you or away from you.
If they are passing by you and are fairly close,...go with at least 1/500 sec. to freeze the action.

You can also use slower speeds and pan with the motion of those flying past you but this technique takes time and practice to master.

If your birds were white, the blue color may have been caused by early morning (or evening) light.
At the those times of day the light is "cold", and can result in a blue-cast with digital and with film.
