Composition Help using 3 horses and their riders

Hi! I've been asked to do some family pictures for a friend and she wants all 3 of their horses in the picture plus their dog. . . Any suggestions on how I could compose this . . . the dad and the son are quite tall and the mom is rather short plus I have to figure out how to get the dog in this too. . .yet make it look good. . . she doesn't necessarily want the whole horse in but I'm thinking to get the dog in I"m going to have to do a wider angle or find a really tall "stool" to sit the dog on somehow. . . Any ideas, suggestions,? HELP???

Here is my family Christmas photo. It's always interesting working with animals! I even had to set the timer on my camera to get this shot. Another idea is if you want to be more close up and only include more of a head and shoulders of people and horses would be to have the dog sit on a wooden crate, a saddle on a rack or a stack of saddles. Good luck!

  HI Michelle,
THIS WOULD BE MY IDEA:
1)HORIZONTAL:GET A COUPLE BALES OF STRAW(HEY WILL DO BUT WILL BE DISTRACTING FOR THE HORSES)POSE THE MEN SITTING SOMEWHAT BACK TO BACK BUT WITH ABOUT A 30 DEGREE ANGLE TOWARDS THE CAMERA, MOM IN THE BACK STANDING WITH THE HORSES.
TAKE SOME OF THE DOG ON THE GROUND SOME WITH HIM BETWEEN THE MEN- MAKE SURE THAT IF IT IS A MALE DOR HE IS ON A ANGLE AS WELL- MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT ATTRACTED TO THE PORTRAIT IF HE IS HEAD ON.
2)VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL: IF THEY HAVE A FENCE-PUT HORSE BEHIND THE FENCE- MOM ON THE FENCE(REMEMBER TO ANGLE HER BODY.
MEN ON EITHER SIDEIF YOU HAVE A BALE HAVE THEM PUT ONE FOOT UP AND LEAN IN ELBOW RESTING ALMOST TO THE KNEW AND DOG ON A BALE .
HOPE THIS HELPS.

Thanks Debby and Janet! I knew I would get some good ideas here. . . I hadn't thought much about it yet so the saddles and straw are a great idea. . . IF I can find straw bales. . . Thanks a bunch!

Hey Debby .. actually I haven't taken it yet. .. the first scheduled date they had something come up . . . so we rescheduled and then it rained. . . so now it's rescheduled for Labor Day weekend which will be better anyway because it's getting dark sooner so the sun will be lower when I can do it! I'll let you know . . .
