Hi Mary! The best way to get comments is to comment on the shots of others. Try the group around you if you tend to upload at the same time every day and soon you will get a little group. Putting a note under your shot asking for critiques may help also.

Hi Mary, I hardly qualify as an "experienced expert photographer", because I am fairly new myself. But, here are some ideas I have about your photos. First, your cat shots are cute! Keeping in mind the differences in monitors and how things are seen once uploaded; I do notice that your exposure, particularly on your animal shots, is just a tad off. I notice this very much with the shots of “spanky”. He is orange and for some reason the photos have an orangie-yellow tinge to them. Your shots of Chris have a green tinge to them and your shots of Suzie seem hazy to my eyes. From my limited experience, I have found these type errors to occur when you meter off the wrong area of a subject, or indeed fail to take into consideration the surrounding light and reflections. If the day is overcast, you might want to take a spot reading from the cat instead of a more general area reading (or matrix on some cameras). If the day is sunny you may still get better exposure by spot metering the subject and drawing in close (macro). Also the use of a warming filter or, in some types of light, a polarizer will help to deal with the hazy light factor. Even a simply haze filter can, in some conditions, help. Anyway, I hope that this helps a little. Keep shooting and you will learn all the oddities of your new camera. Irene
