when do you turn a color digital print into b & w? What kind of factors do you use when determining whether or not to print a digital color photo to black & white.

For me, a film guy, it is a subjective call. Some things just look better in B&W. This is one place you digital folks have an advantage. Just convert it and see which you like best.

making a b&w photo is totally up to you!!! some photos look better in b&w than color, and some look better in color than b&w. You need to experiment with the photo!! sometimes a photo can look great in b&w and in color!!! the choice is always up to you!!! it also depends on what type of mood you are trying to create with an image! b&w brings out the details and textures in the subject you are shooting. and color of course brings out the vibrate colors of the subject. hope this helps!! Good Luck with all the images you create. mlg

Let me add one more thing to this discussion. It also depends on where the photo will be displayed! Black and white will go with almost any decor where colors in most photos might clash. So, customers like portraits that are black and white for their homes because they can be displayed and still look good in a home setting.
