Part Rolls

I'm new here and have a question. I've not yet aquired a second body & wondered what you all thought of carefully rewinding film to use at a later date when that particular film is required. I rarely have time or opportunity to finish a roll in a single outing. Camera is the Minolta X700.

I'm not exactly sure what type of answer you are looking for, but I have a manual advance/rewind camera and I switch between partial rolls all the time. I like having the flexibility to do that. It's nice to choose between B&W or color or different speeds.

As long as your camera can manually rewind your film, there's no problem. Only concern is when you use the film/cartridge again, to be sure to wind the film PAST your last exposure. Cheaper, but not nearly as convenient as a second body.

Ah, and when you take a partial roll out, make sure to mark on the canister the frame you were on, so that you can do what Michael C. suggested, otherwise you get some double exposures.

This is done quite a lot,...even if you have several bodies...in order to avoid shooting useless frames just to "use up the roll".

As Michael and Laura pointed out, mark the frame number on the spool and advance past that number when you reload.

Also, when rewinding manually you need to stop before the leader gets buried inside the canister. You can hear (and feel) when the leader disengages from the take-up spool. When that happens,...STOP,...open the back and remove the roll of film. If you go too far, you will waste valuable time with one of those little metal "thingies" (leader retrievers) trying to get your film leader back out.
This happened to me once and that was enough! :(

Oh,...and also, don't forget to reset your ASA (if applicable).

(Yea,....I've done that too.)

Motor rewind also if it leaves the film leader sticking out of the cartridge
