Photography Question

Tom Sacchet

Image Quality with Canon 20d

Hi...I purchased the Canon 20d and absolutly love the quality, sharpness, and clarity I get with photos taken 3 feet or less.

My photos taken with the subject more than 3 feet away seem to be not sharp or clear.

I use a canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and the close up photos are outstanding.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with the photos where the subject is more than 3 feet away.

Thanks
Sacchet

One thing I can think of are what focus point is being used when you take the picture. The 20D has 9 focus points, if its locked into one ahead of, to the side or behind what you want to focus on it might look blurry.

I have a similar issue with my 350XT, so I only use one of the focusing points (the middle one) it makes it easier for me to focus on what I want, and I just quickly recompose the shot if I don't want the subject in the centre. You should be able to choose which focusing points you want activated, I can.

Hi . I just purchased the 20d and I'm
having the same problems as you. Have you figured out the problem? I have the canon10d and have never had any problems.
