pixilated pics

i went to the circus this saturday and took lots of pics.. those that werent blurry, looked pixilated.. I did not use the digital zoom, only the optical. the camera was set to the highest setting that does not even use digital zoom.. every motion shot is nothing but a blur.. while my old olympus camedia gave me cartoonish looking photos with zoom, it did "stop motion". had hopes that this camera would also do that..

The circus is a pretty tough shooting situation. It sounds like you were taking pictures in low light and the subject was out of the effective range of your flash. The camera probably boosted up the ISO setting to try to compensate. That makes the images look grainy. For the motion shots, the camera didn't have enough light to use a shutter speed fast enough to stop the motion.

A stronger external flash would help in that situation.

THANK YOU!! I could shrug off the circus pics.. I have high hopes for this camera at our county special olympics.. since those events are either outdoors, or in a well lit gym we will hopefully get recognizable pictures..
