about buying canon lense I want to buy a standard zoom for my canon EOS 30, so can any one tell me that which is the best in terms of optical performance, build quality? 1. EF28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM 2. EF24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

The 2 lenses listed are virtually the same in optical quality, build and features. Chosing one or the other comes down to whether you personally prefer the extra wide angle view of 24-85, or would you prefer a slightly longer telephoto and less expensive 58mm filters of the 28-105.

If you need a tie-breaker, The 24-85mm looks 'cooler' with the larger EOS cameras 'cause of the larger diameter of the lense(67mm filters, vs 58mm for the 28-105mm) Not a very professional answer, I realize - - -
