Black & White Negs

Is there a proper way of scanning B&W negs. When I print the scanned photo, my black is a dark indigo blue. Is this the nature of the beast or am I not scanning correctly? I use PhotoSuite lll, is there a way to adjust the color shift in this program.

Just a very short answer - cheap printers actually don't have a black ink cartridge. They produce black from mixing all the colours together in high densities.

If you are in the market for a new printer, check to see if it has a black ink tank if you require pure black in your images.

Cheers,
