Tips for daylight fashion shoots


Hi,
i m having Cannon D60, I m going to do the fashion shoots in daylight...according my knowledge the best time for doing the outdoor fashion shoots is late after noon and early morning... is it right ?
i would like to know some workable tips for my questions... and please let me know shall I have to use some extenal light or flash units as a fill light while doing this in day time?

  Well... I don't have much experience, but yes, you'll need either a flash or reflector depending on the light versus model placement.

Also, depending on what your desired end-product will be, you can add more flash units (say a highlight, or a grid to emphasize an area in particular). Just remember, when shooting outdoors, you can easily "lose the feel" if you start adding lights and making it un-natural looking (unless that's your goal).

As for the time of day, yep, early mornings and late afternoons are best since the contrast is much less and can be recorded on film/digital much better. Then again, if you have a large diffusion panel, you can shoot all day long since you're controling the light.

  Yeah, I think reflectors are a very necessary thing for outdoor portraits. Especially if it's a sunny day. I bought a few white foam boards from an arts and crafts store for about $5 and it does a pretty good job of reflecting light and making it softer. It's 20x30 inches. I would probably try to bring somebody else along so they can hold the reflector. While you do your thing. Hope this helps.
