HELP! URGENT! I have a Canon AE-1 Program. I was taking a very important roll of 36 Kodak Ultra Color and was winding roll and the rewind lever came unscrewed. I put in back on and the film would not rewind past 10. So following the quick advise of a fellow photographer I took the camera to the bathroom in my house which has no light coming in and open the back of the camera. I could not rewind the film in. I tried to gently push it in the canister. I tried to rewind it by turning the round thing on the top of the film. The film with not pull out or go back in. Has any one ever heard of this? I was told by the guy at the camera store 5 minutes till closing to wait and take the camera in tommorow. But they don't open untill 10 am and I need this camera back up and running at 7 am. HELP Thanks Brad S.

Since you got the film out and the rewind lever back on, can't you just use another roll for tomorrow?

No. I took the film out in a dark room and it would not go back in the film canister by hand. I had to put the film back in the camera so about 12 shots don't get ruined. I am telling you its weird the flim will not pull out of the film canister and it will not go back in.

I just joined yesterday and saw this question today. Can you put a pen or pencel into the top of the film caseing. I find that I can rewind some films by putting the pencel in the top and rewind by hand. Hope this helps.

May have folded the film in the cartridge. Went down and around the spool instead of over and around. It's kodak, they have black canisters. Put it in that.
