Photo Sizing I have Photoshop CS, I know I can set the size of my image(5"x7" for example) as well as the resolution in ppi in Photoshop. If I'm sending the photos to an online developer and can set the print dimensions on their site, is there any advantage to doing this in photoshop also? Matt Heider

I work at a photo processing lab that uses a Noritsu 3212. Our machine doesn't care what you set as resolution; it will print a 300 dpi at what ever size you request and interpolate the rest. So, you send me an image with 3000 pixels on the long edge; if we make an 8x10, then it will print with 300 pixels per inch. I print a 8x12, then the machine will interpolate the other 2 inches, very nicely at that. But scale in small steps to the output resolution you need. But the setting in photoshop for dpi is ignored by almost all printers. Just give me the raw pixels.

I normally print an 8X10 at 300 dpi; the file size is nominally 20 MG. When I questioned two separate commercial labs about a 12X18 or larger print, they asked if I could send a larger file. That's becasue they indicated their interpolation wouldn't assure a fully acceptable print. Haven't made the new file, but their logic seemed reasonable.

Use Genuine Fractals plugin. Is will scale before going larger that 18". We use a Noritsu 3212. . .it upscales very well. I've seen web graphics print out as sharp as the screen.
