White Backdrop

I have tried all ways of photographing on a white muslin. It tends to either be grey, but great skin tone and no wrinkles. This is set up with one light behind the camera, and one on each side of the camera all with umbrellas. I tried a backlight hanging from the cieling onto the muslin, and the two lights one on each side with umbrellas, still not impressed. Showed all wrinkles when further away, back of drop white, but still grey where subject was sitting. Any suggestions on white backdrop. I am thinking about buying vinyl, maybe this would help. Any ideas?

Overexpose the backdrop. Blow it out at 5 to 7 stops lighter than grey. Don't use the umbrella on the background. Use a more direct light. I would avoid vinyl. . .too much reflection. Iron the muslin. Put it in a frame and tighten it. I've done the same thing with two camera flashes. The first on camera and the second with a optical trigger behind the subject aimed at the wall. . . I used a medium shutter at 1/90. The back flash fires at full and blows out the background ( a textured wall!)
