Photography Question

Any tips for poorly lit wedding reception

I heard a photographer comment that he has a "model light" that he uses. I've seen his pictures that he's used it on and they look wonderful. They soften skin tone and appearance and almost lighten up the face. What exactly is this "model light"? I have a Nikon D70, is there one suitable for that? Anyone that has any ideas.. please let me know. Thank you!

Model light might mean any light fixture
to add light to the situation. It could
also be a model light built into a moonlight! A nice soft bounced light will give the effect also. . .Digital
is forgiving is some ways. . .Just
white balance!
