Elan IIe PC Connection

I was wondering if there is an acessory that will allow me to use a PC flash connection on my Elan IIe? Thanks.

  Daniel,

Yes. You can get a "hot-shoe-to-PC" adapter that slides into the hot shoe of your camera. It has a single center contact on the bottom for the center contact in your hot shoe which triggers the flash, and a female PC socket on the side. Any major camera store should have one of these, or be able to get one for you. The cost should be under $20 for one.

Keep in mind you cannot use any TTL flash control with this. The strobe may be an "auto" model, but will have to operate in an "auto" mode using its own built-in sensor. The camera body will only be able to trigger it.

As an aside, it is very sad most current camera bodies do _not_ have PC sockets on them any more! A PC socket used to be a standard feature on all but the most dirt cheap, bottom end 35mm SLR bodies.
