opening the back door of a loaded camera film What are the consequences of opening the back door of a camera when a film is loaded? As soon as I realised the mistake I shut the door, the light probably hit the film for about 2 seconds.

Depends on the camera. Canon Rebel models load the film completely on the take-up spool, then as each shot is taken the film is wound back into the film can. If you open the back on a Rebel, the frames already exposed will be safe. As Terry H. stated, on other cameras the frames across the back and the last couple winds around the take-up spool will be ruined, but frames wound deeper on the take-up spool may (or may not) be salvaged. Film still inside the cannister will still be useable, so go ahead and finish the roll. The amount of damage depends on the intensity of the light you were in when you opened the back (and the film sensitivity/ISO).
