What is an infinty curve Hi there, I am curious as to the use and construction of an infinity curve, I am going to be shooting catelog work and was wondering if I should get a backdrop or have an infinity curve constructed, my products are small. I will be working ina studio set up with lights and stuff, sad but true, I am totally clueless..please help if possible.

An "infinity curve" is a studio lighting/background technique that is created by using your backdrop material for both the background and flooring. Simply hang your backdrop, then pull it down far enough so it covers the "floor" area where you will set your product. There should be a nice gentle "sweep" as it curves from the floor (horizontal) to the background (veritical). When it is lit properly, the floor and background "bleed" together, giving you the impression of an infinite background with no visual perception of horizontal or vertical. EZcubes are pretty neat, and a lot of lighting companies have jumped on that bandwagon. I built a similar device for shooting small products out of 3 pieces of white plexiglas. The principle is the same - surround your subject so smooth light. I set up a background of my choice - usually a gradient background, going from white to black, and set the plexiglas on top of it, place one or two lights strategically, and shoot.
