Buying First Digital SLR

I have been researching this site and quite a bit of other digital review websites online and I have finally settled my sites on a Digital Rebel. This will be my first Digital SLR purchase and I'm writing to anyone who can help me with what other kinds of equipment I may need. I could really use some advice on different lens for it and why their good. I take mostly black and white pictures which I know for a digital camera will all be edited on the computer but, if their is a lens that can help me out and get my pictures looking better, please let me know. Any other advice would be a huge help. (bags, tri-pods, editing programs, etc) Thank you for your help. Moody

Moody, Digital Rebel cams by CANON are superb when mixed with EOS EF USM or USM 'L' lenses. For your cam, wide angle ZOOM lens such as 28-90/4-5.6 would be standard. I suggest you ADD a 550 EX flash when you want to upgrade and shooting that may require fill-in. Other good zooms are 35-350 3.5-5.6 ( USM 'L' category ), for macro there's a 50/2.5 or 100/2.8 available ( with the MR 14EX Macro Ring Light installed can take fine macro pics! ), 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS and more! For bags try Tamrac ( www.tamrac.com or color catalog requests---1-800-662-0717 ), tripods there's SLIK SPRINT SERIES or Manfrotto.

I bought my Digital Rebel Last November, and I was in the same position as you are know, Hoe I can get better pictures and what equipment I need? I read a lot of information about this topic and try many types of lenses… What I found is the following.

1st - Great pictures are made paying attention to light and composition
2nd – To learn about light and composition prime lenses are great. They will limit your options forcing you to pay more attention to what is the best way to fill your frame.
3rd – Prime lenses are often faster due to their higher aperture (great for low light situations)
4th –Prime lenses (most of the time) have better resolution and color than zoom lenses and they can be less expensive.

I got 3 prime lenses that have help me improve. EF 50mm 1.4 (this is a must) if you have low budget get the 50mm 1.8 ($60 dollars) I warranty that you will love this lens specially for portraits… I also got a 28mm 1.8, and a EF 200mm 2.8. I own a zoom lens EF 28-105mm 35-4.5 zoom lens that is very good but I hardly used know…

My summary is that prime lenses offer great price and very good quality. They will force you to think more making you more aware of the light conditions and composition. This will help you get great pictures…

If you want to see my picture blog go to http://andresportfolio.blogspot.com and remember I got my first SRL camera on November last year…
