Is my camera adequate? I have a Canon PowerShot A60. I take pictures of our beach houses that are used on several rental by owner sites. My shots are fairly decent and by comparison better than nearly all others on the Web sites I use. I want to move to the next step, where the pictures jump off of the screen and really invite people into the house. Is this something this camera can do?

Good job on your pictures. I assume not everyone tries as much to get as good of pictures as you. How big are the pictures that are put on these websites? I think if I'm correct that your camera has @ Megapixels? Maybe something with a higher pixel could would be a little better? Just jumping up to 3 megapixels probably won't give you that different of a result but maybe 4 or defintly 5? Depending on what you use cameras for or how serious you are, you could also check out a digital SLR which cost from around $800 to $1000 but give outstanding images and flexibility. Something else that you might be able to do, buy something like Adobe Photoshop Elements and raise the color saturation or balance the shadows and highlights. With digital, much of what the picture is, is what is done after you have actually taken it. Maybe post a link to some of your pictures? Hope this helps you a little!

A DSLR, sharp lenses, and a good tripod would give you more versatility, sharpness and clarity. The cost of the above may be beyond your budget but you might want to consider working toward upgrading your equipment eventually. In the meantime,...think LIGHTING and BACKGROUND. -If your shots include parts of the beach in the background, a few props... like a beach chair, a colorful beach umbrella, or a surf board, would help to add a human element.

Even do your camera is a 2.0 mega pixel, is good enough for posting them on a web page. The mega pixels are mainly good to do print enlargements and crop of your photos. I agree regarding good pictures… a better camera will help but is really about composition and lightning… The light the sun gives after 4PM is very nice. If you are taking pictures inside use a tripod and pay attention of the composition of your pictures…
