Canon AE-1 Only half of the flim exposed

My Canon Ae-1 only wants to expose half of the film. Is there anyone in the central Indiana area that knows of a good near by repair shop? I read on the sight someone having the same problem with there Ae-1 program and that the mirror might be sticking and also maybe a shutter problem. Is this something I could fix myself? Please help! Thanks for all of your responses.
Sam

If the split in the exposed/unexposed parts is side-to-side, it's the shutter. If its a top-to-bottom split, its the mirror failing to bounce up out of the way. The AE-1 is a very popular camera. Repair people know how to fix it. See KEH.com Repair department and they'll give you a quote. You may as well have it fixed, as one you get from a eBay operator may have the same problem. If you have an investment in Canon lenses, and don't want to have your AE-1 repaired, you may want to look at an F-1, or A-1.
