Hot Spots in Photos

I shoot with the Canon Digital Rebel and the Canon EOS 1DS and seem to be getting "hot spots" on my white backdrop. I use continuous lighting at 500 watts. Not all of the pictures have the "hot spots", but most do. I correct it in Photoshop, but it takes alot of extra time. I am going to be getting new lights soon, (I'm looking at the Novatron Strobes), but until then how do I fix this problem? Thank you!

  Bobbi,
It sounds like you have your lights too close to your lens and you are getting a flair off them. Are you using a lens hood when you are shooting? Are you using a hair light or any light that is above and opposite to the lens? Are your lights that are illuminating the background at a 45° to it? Please post a copy of one of your photos.
Thanks,
Doug
