Printer Filling in White with Color

I have an HP 7130 all-in-one printer. I'm using ILFORD Galerie injet paper (both glossy and pearl). The colors are pretty accurate, and the detail is good. But today I printed out a pic of a variegated Impatien blossom - dark, hot pink and white - and the printer kept filling in the white area of the petal with pink. There's just a little bit of white left, and it looks like the pink was actually rubbed off the photo, which isn't the case.
The photo looks fine in the camera, looks great in Photoshop or emails, and although not the greatest on regular inkjet paper, the white does show up.
I would include "before and after" photos, but my scanner decided to act up, so I cant show the printed version.
Does anyone know if its a printer problem, or a paper problem, or ??? It doesn't look smeared, so I'm not sure why it's doing this. I thought maybe the colored area of the petal is so intense that it somehow "reflects" into the white when printing?
thanks!
