Dark Spots on Resulting Prints from New Camera

I just bought a Canon Rebel 2000 with a 28-200mm Tamron Supra II lens. When I got my test roll back, I found that several photos had a slight curvy dark spot in the exact same area. They were taken indoors at nighttime. I'm not sure if the flash went off in every shot, and not every one had this spot on it. I was wondering if this has something to do with my having a huge lens using the regular flash unit, or am I doing something wrong?

You did not mention where the dark spot appears. Chances are, you were using the on-camera flash (built-in unit). This flash is too small and low when used with a lens a width the size of the Tamron 28-200mm. You should use a separate flash that can be attached to the hotshoe - e.g. the 380EX to avoid such a reoccurrence (if this was the reason to begin with). The lens barrel basically blocks the built-in flash output and thus causes a shadow to be cast and captured by the film.
