Canon 20D shutter vibration / sound

Hi,
I have recently bought a Canon 20D camera. This is excellent except that I feel that the shutter does produce sound, which is a bit more than my previous Canon Rebel film SLR. This along with it brings a lot more vibration. I was just wondering if this is normal in 20D cameras or there is something wrong with my camera.

Please reply as I can ask for a repair if there is anything wrong within my warranty period.

Thanks in advance.

Swapnali

As has been noted in several reviews the shutter is louder than the 10D or Digital Rebel. One reviewer opined that this is due to the stronger magnets used in the 20D shutter (I do not remember the stated benefit of or need for the stronger magnets).

I have not noticed any more vibration than my that from my Digital Rebel or EOS 7N

  Thanks George,

It gave me a little relief. as its a 20D s specification and not the problem with my piece.
A small query again.
Vibration means, I felt it in hand, it did not affect the image quality. But currently I am using 17-85 EFS IS lense. I was just thinking if I use lense of higher focal length, or macro, then will it affect the image sharpness?

Regards,
Swapnali

I have taken reasonably sharp photos handheld with the 20D and the long end of my 75-300mm.

This is a shot taken handheld on the 20D at 300mm, ISO 200, f/13, 1/200

  Swapnali,
I'm taking a shot in the dark here (when you said "I felt it in hand"), but what you may possibly be experiencing is the continuous focus motor drive. I have an ultrasonic IS lens and even with that one when I hold it up I can feel the motor in the palm of my hand when using continuous focus. Try turning it to single shot mode and see if that changes it. I have a 10D so I'm not familiar with the louder shutter of the 20D.
