Silver or black lens hood for DSC-F717

I own a silver metallic colored Sony DSC-F717. I want to get a lens hood for it and I have found them in both silver and black. Silver will match the camera, but will it's silver color defeat the purpose and reflect light? Whereas the black would eliminate all the light? Do you see what I am asking here? Thanks in advance.

If it is silver on the outside but black on the interior of the hood, then there is no difference. Light reflected off the silver outter surface would not be reflected onto/into the lens.

That said, I've only seen the Sony lens hood for the DSC-F717, LSF-H58A in all black. Maybe they make a silver version. I would not be inclined to by a non-Sony hood as it may not be a good match to the lens. Mismatched hoods can cause vignetting (blocking light to the corners).

Thanks Jon. The hood is silver inside also, so I was thinking that this might cause some sort of reflection. I have seen other black 4 petal style lens hoods in 58mm, but did not think about them causing vignetting. Thanks for pointing that out...sounds like the Sony one is definitely the way to go.
