Camera does not follow Reciprocity law

hi there
Last night I was taking a shot indoor and I realized that the automatic focusing of my canon Eos rebel k2 does not follow reciprocity law for apperture and shutter speed. the ideal/normal ratio is 5.6/125 now if u go to a wider apperture say 4 the shutter speed should go faster to compensate the 5.6/125 ratio. I was getting 4/90. it this normal or I am wrong somewhere in understanding the rule. I had really bad pictures using the automatic mode which I was surprised too with canon k2.
some help would be really appreciated.
thanks
manish

What exposure mode were you using?
Note that the fastest x-sync shutter speed that can be used with the built-in flash is 1/90. If you popped-up the flash, then as soon as the flash is charged, the shutter speed will automatically be set to 1/90 most modes.
