Thomas    It works without any cable! You can set the camera to shoot without time delay or with time delay without ever touching the camera. For a new manual, you can go to nikonusa.com and order a new one.

Malcolm Ainsworth   Hi John, to access the time delay press the multiple shot selector/format button (3 rectangles) on the left and turn the main dial on the back of the camera until the time delay icon appears. You can also buy an infra-red remote control for about US$10 so you can fire away instead of just the one shot on the time delay.
