Photography Question

Filters

I recently purchased a Nikon Coolpics 8700. This seems like a great camera. I also purchased 3 filters. UV,PL & FD. However, I was disappointed inthat I had to attach 2 adapter rings to the camera to use these. This resulted in vignetting or a tunnel effect which I was only able to overcome by zooming passed the obstruction of the adapters. So, this reduces my overall range. It also produces a shadow when I use macro & flash together, so I have to remove the adapters and filters for extreme close ups of nature, etc...

I was told I could leave these filters on all of the time and go from indoors to outdoors. But, if this is possible, I think I have to learn more about controlling the light in my pictures.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Per nikonusa.com, the recommended filters for the Coolpix 8700 are 77mm diameter used with HN-CP11 lens hood. Are these the accessories you have, or some off-brand adaptor and smaller diameter filters? If the latter, I'd return them for a refund and give the retailer an earfull.

P.S. The UV is useful for lens protection only. Digital sensors are not overly sensitive to UV rays as is film. The FD filter is completely useless on a digital camera as the white balance provides more accurate correction for fluorescent lighting than the FD filter, and doesn't cost 1 stop of light either.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I should have done my research before I purchased. I'm going to return these.
