Darkroom Equipment

I would like to set up a simple black and white darkroom in my home...what am I looking at in terms of cost?

  Lara,
I'm in the process of setting up a B/W darkroom and so far I've spent around $750. This includes, to this point, an enlarger (used), utility light(used), 11 x 14" trays, a print washer (used, probably an extravagant item), a paper safe, and an easel (used). I'm going to set it up in my basement, so I'll have to put up walls etc. I'm guessing I'll have invested $1500 by the time I'm finished.

Hope this gives you an idea of cost.

Ted

I also am in the process. I got a great deal on an enlarger, paper safe safe light, easel, etc. Basically everything I need except the sink and the chemicals for $700. The enlarger alone is worth that. I built 2 walls to corner off a section of my garage and a work table, that's approx $300. I still need some running water. That should run about $200. I'll make a T where my outside garden hose connects and run that to the garage.

So I bet I'll be right at or above $1500 as well.

Sean
