Photography Question

Becky J. Blackburn

Beginner needing advice

I'm a 17 year old who is absolutely in love with photography. I recently got a Nikon N75, which I love. I also have a f/4-5.6G AF zoom lens. Its truly an awsome camera. I really need advice about how to get into the business and finding affordable classes, equipment, etc. My friends have let me practice on them by letting me take some senior type pictures of them. Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

  hi becky,
don't have a subscription to a photo mag.,haven't read a book on photography.,just out of school,? I love my job.? wanna be a pro,? one camera, one lense,? shouldn't be a problem.
read and get on this website as much as you can , most of the time your answers will be here without even asking a question.
you've got to think about photography , and not about becky. even though that is the ultimate goal !
maybe a father to daughter advice ?
i love this website , i've been in photography for over ten years , takes time , got milk ?
advice is cheap , work is'nt .

Hi Becky! I really got interested in Photography in High School- my school had classes you could take. If you have graduated, look into the community colleges in your area. A lot of them have good photography programs that offer degrees in the field. You will also get a TON of experience and knowledge for all aspects of photography including going into business for yourself.
As for getting supplies, there are several internet dealers that have supplies. I have purchased my darkroom equipment from both B & H Photo/Video (bhphotovideo.com) and Freestyle Photo (freestylephoto.biz). They seemed to be the least expensive for their products. Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I'm on this site constantly. I even have it as my homepage. But I've found it somewhat intimidating however. But I'm getting more experience every time I log on!
