How to Get a White Background When Shooting Jewelr Hi. I'm having a hard time, and if anyone here can help I'd be so appreciative. I have a Nikon Coolpix 995 that I am trying to use to photograph jewelry for my website. I also have a jewelry light box (EZ cube), and two lights plus a sparkle light with a diffuser. I am using daylight balanced bulbs. Here's my problem: When I take the pictures, on some of the jewelry the background turns grey even though I am shooting on a pure white background. On other items the background comes out pure white like I want it. For example, I took a picture of a fuschia colored bracelet and the background was a perfect sparkling white. Using the exact same lighting and conditions, I took a picture of a silver colored bracelet and the background turned medium grey. I tried adjusting the white balance to no avail. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I am suspecting the reflection of the silver braclet fooled the sensor of your camera. Can you dial in +1 exposure compensation and see if it gets better? Or, if the light source is the same all the time, can you just set your camera to manual mode and use the same exposure parameters for all your jewelries?

I don't realy know the features of your camera. But I can say that you should try manual operation of the camera. Once you find out what are the ideal settings (white balance, apperture, shuter time), you can use them over and over as long as you have the same setup. The items on your pictures will be equially balanced and have the same color so when you put them next to each other it will the same effect but different item.
