Photographing fruit

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make fruit pictures more "exciting"? I'm in a photography club and our assignment is fruit, but the pictures I've taken are blah. How exciting is an apple or orange after all? Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Buff them up good with some type of wax. Or cut them in half and glue an apple 1/2 to an orange 1/2 or cut a banana in half and put it back together backwards. Or make a sliced fruit sandwich. Or throw a potato into the mix.

Thanks Robert! I hadn't thought of that. Great idea! I'll let you know how it turns out.

You can also use the fruit as a "prop" to tell a little story or to make a statement. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
(see enclosed example)
