Transparencies

I took some advise from this web site and bought the book Photographers Market 2003. By the way, it is great advice. But would someone explain to me about 35mm transparencies and images in digital format? (Does this mean scanned or downloaded from a digital camera saved in a jpeg file? I am really confused now. Just like operating a computer! (Maybe I should ask my kids.) Thanks for all your help...

I'm not sure what you want explained about transparencies. Do you mean what are they? If so, then transparencies are nothing more than slides. Images in digital format could be either scanned film or images made by a digital camera.

4x5 transparencies are just transparencies (slides) shot on 4x5 film. Large format cameras (you know the old fashioned looking cameras where the photographer is standing behind them with a dark cloth over his head) shoot film that is 4 inches by 5 inches (some shoot film that is 5x7, 8x10, 16x20, and other odd sizes as well).
