Spotting Telescopes Vs. Telephoto Lens

I need a professional quality lens for wildlife photography. I have a Canon G2 camera and it will only allow me to go to 153mm telephoto maximum with the optional lens by canon. I was curious about the quality of spotting telescopes used as a telephoto lenses for photography, are they any good? Or would I be better off saving my money for a better camera with interchangable lenses?

My advice is to save your money and get a camera with interchangable lenses. I believe the quality of the lenses would be much better and with a zoom you would have a number of focal lengths to choose from.
