Reducing Noise with Fast Action

Hey there,

I'm just starting with attempts to get action wildlife photos. I'm using a Canon Rebel T3i, a 200 mm 2.8 lens and a 1.4x teleconverter, all Canon. I attempted some shots tonight at a wildlife refuge and I couldn't find a happy medium with ISO/exposure and having to use fast shutter speeds for birds in flight at the golden sunrise/set hour. Some of them would've turned out great if it wasn't for the noise. This image was taken 2500/sec f/8 ISO 1600.

Thank you :)

Your shutter speed is very fast. Perhaps try to shoot at 1/1000th (which should still be fast enough). This might effectively get your ISO down to 800 or lower, assuming lighting conditions the same.
