  It's only a recommendation. However, the real concern should be with links that you might click on. Either from the site or with messages that are sent to you.
Doesn't Facebook have ads all over the place now? You should be careful clicking on an ad, or even if you get a message that says it's from a "friend", it could be a redirection to something that could screw you.
Even on your own computer, it's wise to uncheck the box that ask to save passwords or sign in names. And maybe search for information first before you click a link in an ad for a company you haven't heard of before.
