Pin holes in prints

I have a Canon pixma iP4950 printer. Hardly top-of-the-range but basically good. However, the prints have a series of double lines, which are made up of tiny pin pricks. I have twice asked Canon support for assistance but, despite confirmation of receipt of my query, have had no response. Is there any BP member who can shed some light on the problem? Is there some adjustment that can solve the issue?

Thanks
Hans

I guessing something with the thing that rolls the paper thru the printer is doing it.

My printer's an HP, but I had a similar problem. The FAQ file gave me the answer: clean the contacts on the cartridge (slightly damp Q-tip). Maybe this would work for you?
