Photography Question

Playing a DVD

I have copied photos onto a DVD-R and wanted to play them in a standard DVD player on a tv screen, but it won't work. Can this be done and if so what kind of DVD do I need? I have DVD/VCR player that is probably five or six years old and a large flat screen tv that is 3 years old, if that matters.

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried hitting the "disc menu" button and see if that brings up a listing of what's on the dvd? That is if it's acting like anything is loading.
Can't say I know a lot of gadget stuff, but I would say it isn't the kind of dvd you have, but if it's written properly. The info that's written on to a dvd or a cd that makes the player recognize it, load the selection, and even with dvd's make it automatically start to play.
Either that part may be missing or isn't recognize due to what you made the dvd with. Or since anything that has "vcr" in it's description is considered obsolete, maybe it won't read anything that's not the same as the data on the a video dvd.
You might also have the option of using the tv as a monitor if you hook it up to your computer.

Here's what little I know: It all starts with your DVD player - not all are capable of "reading" photo DVDs. Even if it does, it may require a special type of DVD, photo format (most read only jpegs), and/or a software program such as a slideshow before it will work. Check your instruction manual, or call the manufacturer if possible. Barring that, check a website like manualsonline.com to see if you can find the manual for your DVD player make and model. But until you know that, it's pretty much a waste of time to put your photos on the DVDs.

Thank you for the responses. I got it to work, I did a little more research and discovered my computer has something called "Windows DVD Maker". I followed the steps and it works! I am very pleased :)
