Considering upgrading to Pro

Hi! I currently have a Deluxe gallery - but I am considering upgrading to Pro for the image sales feature. Has anyone done this and if so, were you happy? How does the image sale feature work?

Thanks - gretchen :o)

  Hi Gretchen-

I'll let others that are selling images speak to how well it works for them, but once you upgrade to a pro site you will have image pricing tools in your Deluxe admin center. Once an image is priced it is up for sale on your site.

You'll need a free Paypal account to allow others to purchase your images with a credit card. When a purchase is made you'll be sent an email notifying you who purchased and what they purchased. From there you can mail the product or have one of the many online printing services print and ship your photo.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Jay! It does give me a better idea about what to expect. I wonder how successful members have with selling their images through the pro site?

I have used the selling feature a few times and it works pretty good. There are a couple of instances where I use it, one is if the client wants to purchase some of their portraits but can't or doesn't want to pay with cash or check. The other was for a school group shot. I set it up in a private password protected gallery (also available in the Pro Site) with the purchase link so that anyone from that group can see them and purchase individually instead of all of them trying to come up with money and an order all at the same time. This also works for scenic photography also.

As far as how it works, you can set up prices for any number of sizes. Once the person clicks on the purchase icon, they are taken to a screen that shows them the different print sizes and prices for each size. They can then pay with a CC and it sends you an email notifying you that someone has purchased a particular image. It gives you which image, the size they want, their name, and their mailing address. It does not give you their CC info since Paypal does all that for you so they can be comforted that you never see their CC info.

Now with paypal you will have to set up an account with them if you don't already have one and link a bank account so that you can deposit the money into that account.

The only problem I have with it is that paypal charges a fee for each cc purchase but that is how paypal makes money. Their fee is 1.9-2.9% of the transaction + $.30. So if you were charging $20 for an image and someone paid through paypal with a cc, you would get $19.12 because $20-2.9%-$.30=19.12.

Hope this makes sense. The short answer though is I use it quite often and it works well.

Travis

I just upgraded tonight b/c of the 2 for 1 sale. I went from deluxe to pro, but my site originally expired 9/8/10 now it says 9/8/12 which extends the 2 years, but I don't know if I will be able to use the pro until 9/8 or 9/9/10 because that was when my deluxe site that I originally had expired.

The pro site should have been activated and ready to run at the time you upgraded.

i checked again, I do not have pro features yet. when I click on upgrading it gives me a purchase price of 150 which is the diff in price btwn the deluxe and pro sites for a one year period...since I have used the deluxe site from Sept 8 thru today, I shdnt be paying the full year...one time I brought up the upgrade it did in fact allocate only the months I wd be using the upgraded features and not charge the full year, so something must be wrong w/ the site. I can email support about it or wait to see what happens in september! but that's along time from now...

BP has always been good to resolve any problem I have had. Just let them know and I'm sure they will fix it.
