Use of digital camera with a spotting scope

I'm a birder that would like to use a digital camera coupled with a spotting scope (Digi-scope). I'm about to replace my current digital camera and spotting scope that are not compatible with this need.

My goal is to be able to produce clear 4x5 pictures of wild birds with the spotting scope. I assume this would require about 3 megapixels of resolution with a meduim cost camera. I would like to use a light weight 60MM scope with a 20-60x eyepiece or 35x wide angle using HD lenses. I do not like plastic camera bodies but would like a compact light-weight camera.

What is the best method of obtaining the end objective? What camera? What scope? What connecting device? I have a hard time finding out which lens have threaded mount rings, also can the camera weight be mounted from the mount ring?

Thanks,
Gordon J.

I don't have any experience, but can direct you to an individual that takes some fabulous pictures with a digital and scope..you can view her recent work here: http://www.photoblink.com/ppages.php?authorid=1581 Be sure to go to her home page, also listed, it contains info on what she uses and links.
