Selecting the right lens
I have just purchased my first 'real' camera. Now I am researching lenses for it. The camera is a Canon Rebel 2000. Can anyone advise the quality and limitations of photographs between the EF 75-300m f/4 - 5.6 III USM and the IS USM model of the same lens. I am pushing more to the IS lens but would appreciate any input as funds are limited.

I have the 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS and I'm not that happy. The IS works great but I'm trying to shot moving subjects in low light with it and thats a no no. If whats your shoting is pretty much stationary or slow moving then go for the IS otherwise no.
