Stephannie, Using a camera strap? Was the camera turned vertical? If so, look to see which way it naturally falls when you hold the camera to your eye. Do it with it around your neck and just hanging from the camera. Camera strap falling in front of lens: been there, done that. Now I check for it, and sometimes remove it entirely (mine have quick releases near the strap lug attachments). Also, if you're using a "never-ready" camera case, the nose cover can also end up in front of a lens when it's turned vertical. When using one, I unsnap the nose off of the case bottom and leave it in the camera bag now. -- John

What kind of camera were you using? With my Olympus C3000, when using the built-in flash, the lens barrel sometimes creates a dark shadow in the flash pattern, in the lower left corner. This only occurs when close focused at extreme wide angle, so it's not a big deal. But it is an annoyance. Maybe other cameras have the same problem. Jaymes
