Problems with photos from Digital Camera

Every now and then after taking a photo and entering it into Adobe, there are wavy lines or dots (in rows) on the picture. These are there before I even print the pictures.

Sharoda, I suspect you are running into jpeg compression artifacts. To get that size of image (1024x768 pixels) at true color (24 bits per pixel) puts the total raw image data at over 2 megabytes per image. Sony had to use a very agressive compression scheme to get those images to fit onto a standard floppy disk (1.44MB maximum).
The compression process can produce a grid effect as seen in your photo since it groups neighboring pixels. This compression problem is exacerbated by complex images with lots of close color variation (as your photo).
Try the same photo at 640x480 resolution with the same Fine quality and see if the problem is lessened - or gone. A good photo a bit smaller is certainly better than a larger one with the "dots".
