Hi all-this was obviously taken at the Cavs game-I'll take suggestions for a better title...

As Jeff mentioned, the lighting was a challenge, but the guards/police were too. It was a battle between ISO and shutter speed. Jeff-I couldn't get the shutter speed any faster without compromising quality (there were a lot of blurry shots).

This shot was very noisy, and was fixed a bit in ACR. I am not sure of the composition/cropping. I have more space on the left and above. I straightened this a little and used the backboard as a reference (this may not be right).

I am open to any improvements, as Tom will probably want this printed on a canvas for his office:)

Looking at this from my laptop, it looks pretty good, Elaine. I'd bump the exposure up just a tad, but otherwise, it looks good.

You did a great job on this image, Elaine. I am amazed how many of the fans are recognizable and I love the bright colors and clarity. I also like the ref in the lower right corner and the guy taking a picture in the lower left. Oh, and a great action shot, too. I'm impressed!

Nice job Elaine...I think you picked the right balance of settings to stop the action with a fastish shutter speed while not getting an unusable amount of noise by pushing the ISO too high....were you able to get any closer shots of the players with a longer focal length? Although I do think the ref adds a nice element, I think you could also crop tighter a couple of different ways to highlight the players...I think either a square crop to include all of the players, or a vertical to include just the players going after the ball would work nicely....
A couple of titles I thought of are "Jumpball" or "Up for Grabs", or for some comedic relief "Aren't you glad you use Dial.." (get it? Because their armpits are probably smelly..google it if you have no idea what I'm talking about)

Elaine, I think you did great with clarity and focus. I am not a big sports person, so will leave the crops and suggestions to those who know those things.
Tony you know these guys are not in the ER because they probably do use dial! I think you understand! LOL!

I think you did a stellar job on this Elaine. A nice balance of parameters as Tony mentioned. Since you mentioned shutter speed, I would err on the side of a faster shutter/higher ISO. It is better to get sharp images than noise free images.

His crop ideas are good also. An 8x10 crop starting in the lower right corner would work well.

You could also add just a tad of high pass filtering, about 0.2 to 0.25 in overlay blend mode would be enough.

As with Beth, I am certainly not a big sports fan either but I have really enjoyed this image Elaine. There is so much to look at here, so many different elements that hold my interest. A hundred wonderfully expectant looks on the faces of those fans with collective breath-holding; the ref and the guy with his point-and-shoot in the lower left, as Susan mentioned. I was even interested enough to Google "Cavs basketball" as I had not the slightest idea who they were. Still don't understand why grown men squabble over tossing a ball into a round net thingy though!

Thanks so much for the input! Dale, I already used a high pass filter, but I did it again, along with increasing the exposure a little. Here are the three suggested crops-please help me decide, I still would appreciate the input.

Peter-I am really not into sports, especially basketball. They just go back and forth and back and forth. The only reason I went was to bring my camera-I knew this would be a challenge to photograph with the equipment I have. So, how do I get down on the court with some good equipment? Any ideas???

BTW, the Cavs beat your Jazz Jeff:)

Tony-I'll post a few more after you all look at these. I need to do a little more work on some closer ones. Plus, there was a guy that rushed onto the court-I have him in cuffs with all the bad-____ security guards. Will post those soon.
