I did a bunch of these today and here is one more with a different point of view, not sure which I like the best.

Coo! Number 2 is my preference. the background flower fills up more space and the droplets are really interesting to look at-they are distorted in a cool way. Did you have a plate of glass in front of this flower? Love it!

Thanks, It was over the flower, but I couldn't get all the drops to be round.

Did you clean the glass extra well and put rain-X on it? Super clean and level with get you the round drops.

I didn't have any Rainx, so I tried some windshield cleaner and then some silicone spray, but I am thinking I may have to get some rain x .

Oh Beth, I like these and am totally intrigued as to what the set up was to achieve these effects.

Hard to choose between these. In the first post, the center drop with the well-formed flower anchors the first picture. The progression of off-center and increasingly distorted reflections as you move away from the center provides explopding motion. I think it could be cropped just a little on the left and bottom.

The second is a great abstract.

I think I prefer the 2nd because of its simpler pattern and brighter colors.

Very cool Beth...I prefer the 1st pose because it has a 3D appearance to it. To me the it looks as though the drops are on a spherical surface and I'm wondering how you achieved that..

Very cool Beth. How did you come up with this? I like it a lot.

I prefer the second shot with the cleaner look to it. Love the detail and distortions. Could look at this for a long time - cool and refreshing in this hot weather.

So cool! I like the 1st one best because I love how the centre's flower drops are framed.

Thanks everyone, the set up is very easy. I had a piece of glass I put up over a flower . I had a small flower in a very small vase and put some complementary color around it.
The glass is suppose to have been treated with rainx, but I didn't have any so I tried some windshield fluid we had and some other stuff, like spray cooking oil that didn't work. Then I sprayed the glass with water and tried to shoot straight down with my macro.
Not having the rain-x made my drops different sizes and shapes. I just played around till I got some I like. I am getting some rain x so may try Monday when I am off. I shot these in a room that had plenty of light so no flash.

We did this kind of stuff as a group a few years ago and while the setup sounds easy getting a good focus and comp. wasn't....at least not for me. It does look like your focus isn't exactly on the water drops....maybe it was on the glass? I like the 2nd image because it has some unusual shapes in it. :~)

My favorite is the second image. I like the funky shapes of the water drops. Also, I love that the drops look like they are floating.

Hummm . . . I might have to try this sometime.

Yes it is probably a dog hair, not much escapes them around here. I removed it for you...

The last shot is great-kind of reminds me of those glass paperweights with the flowers inside-I love those:)

Did you learn to do this in a class? Really cool.
