Church of St. Demetrius on the Blood
Uglich is one of the Russian cities in the Golden Ring. It was the favorite city of Ivan the Terrible and shortly after his death his son Demetri was killed at age nine. First a chapel was built on site of his death and later this magnificent Church of St. Demetrius on the Blood was built on the site. Demetri is portrayed as a saint in frescoes depicting his death.
